ARCH DYSON C.V. 's

I have been involved in the television and media industries for more than 25 years. I am a director, producer and executive producer and I have held many executive posts with most of the major broadcasters. I have worked across most television genres both in the UK and abroad. Either recorded or live, I am equally at home in a multi camera studio, on large multi camera OB shoots or shooting with single camera.

I work exceptionally well with talent and writers and I am well respected by broadcasters commissioners and production teams.

I retain a calm and controlled attitude when in pre production and particularly when shooting.

My career has also involved me taking various management and executive roles which have added enormously to my knowledge of the industry.

I have broad experience of new media and I have been actively involved in the development of IPTV platforms and their content along with creating AFP programming opportunities.

 2003 – 2006

Company Director Maidstone Studios Ltd

In charge of development and production at own studios delivering programming and broadcast facilities to the major networks in the UK and   abroad.

1997 – 2003

Vice President of Production Flextech/Telewest (Now Virgin Media)

Responsible for all original production generated for the Flextech bouquet of channels (which includes Living, Bravo, Trouble and Challenge). I produced programming for the Flextech/BBC joint venture channels, UK Gold etc. Under the banner of Flextech Productions. The department offered its services as a production company entering into co-production projects with Channel 5, Channel 4 and the BBC. Because of the volume of programming required by the channels I was also responsible for employing, briefing and monitoring independent production companies (e.g. Wall to Wall, Endemol, Bazal, Tiger Aspect and Rapido).

I managed the launch of channels for Flextech and oversaw channel re launches.

I also ran all of the Telewest local programming and had responsibility for Flextech’s production facilities which included a multi channel digital broadcast facility servicing Poland this ultimately was taken over by UPC/Canal +.

Within my remit was the enhancement of programming to meet the needs of the broadband   digital age. Any programming undertaken was designed with web support and, where possible, an interactive capability via the net and sms technologies.

1994 - 1997

Deputy Group Controller of Entertainment Yorkshire Tyne Tees (Granada)

This involved the management of a Department which was responsible for major network          productions such as BRUCE’S PRICE IS RIGHT, A TOUCH OF FROST and COUNTDOWN. At the time, this department had an annual budget of circa £15 million. Additionally, I was responsible for  attracting new projects to the department and had secured commissions from Channel 4, Channel 5,  Flextech (Challenge TV) and a re-commission for a third series of Bruce's Price is Right. I believe I accelerated Yorkshire-Tyne Tees Television from a dormant position in entertainment television to a dynamic and recognised contributor of quality, broad based programming (within six months of joining the company I had attracted 2 x 17 episode ITV network commissions). I was also lucky enough to undertake various overseas projects dealing with the global communications market.

1986 - 1994

I joined the BBC as an Assistant Floor Manager and quickly became a Production Manager in the L.E. Department. The next move was to Director and then Producer. Some of the shows I either produced or directed are:

The Fast Show, Noel Edmonds House Party, Top of the Pops, Song for Europe, The Wogan Show, Notes and Queries, Christmas in Europe, The Children’s Royal Variety Performance and The Olivier Awards.

I production managed the Bafta Awards, the Brits, Russ Abbot, Entertainment USA, Noel’s Christmas Presents and many more.
